'Remember how large you felt?'

Fragment
by Jack Myers
Remember when you were little
and could shout like the yellow sun
on the horizon Here I Come!,
before your self-image was a light bulb
in the fridge of your self-esteem
and you weren't afraid of anything in life
because there wasn't any difference
between everything in life and you?
Remember how large you felt?

Healing notes
I recently started a practise of gratitude with a friend. We heard it as a part of a course on the science of happiness. It felt easy and natural to undertake it daily. I have heard of gratitude practises all over the internet. But somehow the timing was right for this. I was able to sit down and reflect without negative emotions clouding me.
The premise was simple, after each day reflecting on how the day felt and then listing three good things of the day. Could be small things like a plate of idli with some ghee and molgapodi or could be making some amazing gongura paruppu or palak paneer. After a few days of doing it, I sat back to look at my list. I realised that food featured heavily on my gratitude lists. The cats too. It made the end of the day a bit calmer.
Reflecting on the good parts of the day helped me feel less like each day was the same, just filled with a lot of pain. It made the days stand out in my mind. This I was grateful for. If you wish to try, I highly recommend it. It is a way to feel the goodness even as we have challenging or difficult days, Then one can say, "Remember how large you felt?" for a few moments everyday. <3

Food experiments
It is no secret that I love gongura. Making stuff with it is my first though. Finding fresh leaves for this was amazing.
Gongura Paruppu 3/4 cup of dal 1 cup chopped gongura leaves(measured after chopping) 1 onion 1 green chili slit Generous pinch of turmeric
chilly powder Oil or ghee as needed
Mustard seeds Salt as needed
Wash the gongura leaves (i chopped them too) and clean it. Heat the pressure cooker and add the onion, dal, gongura leaves, salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder.
Add enough water for the dal to cook and close the lid.
Pressure cook it for 4 whistles or until it cooks fully.
It is ready! You can season it with mustard, oil, green chili. :) Happy eating. Serve with rice or roti.
Dear you,
<3 I have been trying to do more and more feel good things as the days pass by.
Hope you have some feel good wrapped up in your day <3
Love, kindness and warmth,
Nidsitis
