'Just beyond yourself, it’s where you need to be'
I hope you find some beauty, just beyond yourself <3

Just beyond yourself
by David Whyte
Just beyond
yourself.
It’s where
you need
to be.
Half a step
into
self-forgetting
and the rest
restored
by what
you’ll meet.
There is a road
always beckoning.
When you see
the two sides
of it
closing together
at that far horizon
and deep in
the foundations
of your own
heart
at exactly
the same
time,
that’s how
you know
it’s the road
you
have
to follow.
That’s how
you know
it’s where
you
have
to go.
That’s how
you know
you have
to go.
That’s
how you know.
Just beyond
yourself,
it’s
where you
need to be.

Healing notes
All of us have had the experience of looking back over our lives, where our younger self did something that our future self is very thankful for. You look back at that moment. Had you not gone out the door, had you not made the phone call, had you not made that promise, you would have a very different life now. You can go back — that person was the ancestor of your present future happiness. The great question for this weekend is, how could you be the ancestor of your own future happiness?
David Whyte
Last week I asked around about this moment that David Whyte mentions. Those who replied shared experiences ranging from a single choice to long term changes in their lives. Difficult, easy, natural, chosen moments that made me realise we take so many small, large decisions that change our lives forever.
I want to pay tribute to my past self. The self that got me here. The self that quit jobs that seemed toxic or unhelpful. The self that read poetry in libraries tucked away from others. It reminded me of the tiny decisions which have saved me, which didn't seem like decisions at all. In a way, I was building a life for my self that my current self is grateful for. Similarly I am doing things now that my future self will thank me for.
What a beautiful thought that is. Within me lies the strength, resilience and forethought to act in a way that helps myself.
From others responses I realised, we all undertake decisions and actions that sometimes are so hard but benefit us in the long term. It was lovely to witness that moment, that realisation.
I hope you will also think about how your past self has helped your future self. <3

Food experiments
5 slices of bread
1 cup milk
4 eggs
Sugar as per needed
Cinnamon
Chocolate sauce
Oil the vessel you have to bake in. Place the bread sliced up in one layer. Then layer on top of it again.
In another vessel beat the eggs and the milk together. Add sugar, cinnamon and chocolate sauce.
Beat some more.
Pour on top of the bread and allow it to soak for 15 mins.
Finally bake in the oven for 40 mins at 170 degrees. Let it cool down and then dig in!!
Dearest you,
Thank you for being here. I hope you've been enjoying reading these newsletters as much
as I have enjoyed working on them. <3
Love, hugs and kindness,
